What is ChemTracker?

ChemTracker Consortium

The ChemTracker Consortium is a collaborative group of academic organizations, founded in 2001 by Stanford University. In addition to providing access to the ChemTracker chemical tracking and regulatory reporting system, the Consortium offers its members a forum for discussing regulatory compliance "best practices", sharing of EH&S business strategies, and direction for future system development. The Consortium also maintains databases of chemical properties, hazard information, and regulatory classifications of materials for use by its members.

The ChemTracker system was originally developed at Stanford University to handle their large number of material containers stored in over three million square feet of laboratory space, to maintain chemical inventory for addressing environmental compliance issues. It is now in use by 9 academic institutions and one commercial business, tracking over 390,000 individual containers, stored in 68,000 rooms in 2,200 buildings, owned by 1,700 chemical owners, accessed by 2,300 application users.
